About EarChords

Hear it. Map it. Play it.

EarChords helps musicians work out a song’s harmony and practice it. Upload an audio file, capture a playing browser tab, or record a short clip using your microphone. Pitch detection and chord analysis run on your device.

From listening to practicing

The tool estimates a chord timeline, key and tempo. You can listen alongside the chord sheet, transpose the displayed chords, choose capo shapes, change playback speed, loop a passage and view guitar, piano or ukulele diagrams.

Understand the results

Automatic transcription is an estimate, not an authoritative score. Clear recordings with distinct harmony work best. Dense mixes, unusual tunings, noisy microphones and ambiguous chords can produce mistakes. Listen back and check the chords before relying on them.

Song guides

Our song pages distinguish checked core chords from automatically estimated timelines. Published sources, where available, are linked on each page. An unavailable or unreliable timeline is identified rather than presented as a verified transcription.

Your audio stays with you

EarChords does not upload your selected or recorded audio to our servers. Fonts, hosting and embedded third-party media involve separate network requests; see our privacy policy for details.
